Intelligent Fingerprinting’s non-invasive Drug Screening System provides a fast and convenient way for coroners to screen for recent drug use as soon as a body arrives at the mortuary. The new approach could save coroners’ time and resources by providing early intelligence on cause of death, helping to prioritise when a full post mortem is needed and potentially enabling earlier release of the deceased back to their families.
Unlike conventional toxicology methods involving body fluid samples, fingerprint sample collection is non-invasive and can be carried out on immediate reception of the deceased at the mortuary
Fingerprint sample collection takes seconds and results are available in 10 minutes, with potential to provide early intelligence on cause of death
Portable and easy to use, our fingerprint drug screening system enables routine drug screening by mortuary staff, prioritising the need for further laboratory tests
Our point-of-care System screens for multiple drugs of abuse in one test
Toxicology tests to provide evidence of recent drug use supply important information which enables coroners and their staff to investigate cause of death. Conventional toxicology tests usually require collection of invasive body fluid samples from the deceased and laboratory analysis that can be time consuming and costly. Intelligent Fingerprinting’s non-invasive Drug Screening System provides a fast and convenient way for coroners to screen for recent drug use that can be carried out immediately on arrival of the deceased at the mortuary.
By providing early intelligence on cause of death, Intelligent Fingerprinting’s Drug Screening System could help coroners to determine if further investigation is required, or may enable them to release the deceased to their families sooner.
...useful and reliable...“Testing has shown that fingertip-based screening can provide useful and reliable intelligence on drug use prior to death, with the results being highly consistent with existing techniques – body-fluid based tests and laboratory toxicology analyses. I am pleased to be able to add Intelligent Fingerprinting to the portfolio of tests that I direct .”

How suitable is your drug testing system for use during the pandemic?
Our fingerprint-based system offers a safe, simple approach to drug testing that’s quick, hygienic and enables social distancing during use.
Face coverings can remain in place throughout testing and there’s no need for close contact or handling of biohazardous body fluids such as saliva or urine samples. Fully portable, our system eliminates the need to call in external drug testers, helping you to lower infection risk and stay in control of costs by bringing testing in-house.

Where can I buy your products?
Our products are available to order directly from Intelligent Fingerprinting and various distributors worldwide.

Which drugs does it detect?
We currently offer two versions of our fingerprint drug test cartridge and each of these screens for multiple drug groups simultaneously:
The DSR-Plus portable reader provides a presumptive positive or negative screening result for each drug group in the test.
How much does it cost?
To ensure you receive accurate pricing information and expert advice, we need to know a little about your drug testing requirements. We will then provide costings specifically tailored to your organisation’s needs. Please contact us for a no-obligation quote.
How quick is the test?
Collection of the fingerprint samples onto the Drug Screening Cartridge takes less than a minute. Analysis of the Cartridge using the DSR-Plus portable reader takes only a few minutes.
How easy is it to use?
Fingerprint-based drug screening is quick, hygienic and simple. Fingerprint sample collection takes seconds and is non-invasive and dignified.
The portable DSR-Plus – which is used to read the Drug Screening Cartridge – is operated via a touchscreen and features simple visual prompts. On-screen results are available in minutes and can be printed via the label printer accessory. Customer training is available on request.
How reliable is fingerprint drug screening?
The accuracy of Intelligent Fingerprinting drug screening tests is comparable to other point-of-care drug screening tests such as those using urine and oral fluid samples. Our UKAS-accredited drug screening cartridges provide an initial screening result. This means that when the DSR-Plus reader indicates a positive result, it is known as a ‘presumptive positive’. For an unequivocal test result, further fingerprint samples are collected for a fingerprint-based laboratory test, ‘Confirmatory Analysis’, to confirm the test results.
What does a positive screening result mean?
The Intelligent Fingerprinting Drug Screening Cartridge and DSR-Plus provide a presumptive result only. This means that when the DSR-Plus provides a positive screening result, it cannot be automatically assumed that the person tested has taken the drug(s) indicated. In circumstances where a positive screening result is obtained and an evidential result is required, the customer will need to verify the result using our fingerprint-based laboratory Confirmatory Analysis service.
Do you offer a confirmation service?
Yes, via our accredited partner laboratories using our Fingerprint Collection Kit For Laboratory Analysis. Please contact us for more details.
Do you supply alcohol tests?
Yes, we supply Home Office Approved alcohol breath intoximeters.

How does the Intelligent Fingerprinting Drug Screening System work?
Our fingerprint drug test works by detecting target drugs and drug metabolites contained within the tiny traces of sweat in fingerprints. Drug metabolites are substances produced by the body when it processes (metabolises) drugs.
It takes less than a minute to collect the fingerprint sweat sample onto a small, tamper-evident cartridge. The cartridge is then analysed by the portable DSR-Plus reader to provide a screening result for each drug group in the test in minutes.

Intelligent Fingerprinting has developed the world’s first portable, fingerprint-based drug testing system, which provides a quick and easy, non-invasive and dignified alternative to traditional point-of-care drug testing.
Why should I switch to the Intelligent Fingerprinting Drug Screening System?
Reasons to choose fingerprint drug testing include:
Which regulatory approvals do you have?
Research & Development, Manufacturing Facilities and Operations for our drug screening products meet stringent validation criteria which comply with ISO 13485 standard for In Vitro Diagnostic Devices and Medical Devices in addition to ISO 9001:2015.
We have regulatory oversight of our sub-contracted reference laboratories where our methodology has gained accreditation with the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS), who ensure that the laboratory operates in accordance with the ISO 17025 standard.
Do you have FDA approval?
We are in dialogue with the FDA and are currently preparing the products for submission for FDA 510(k) approval. Our Confirmation Test Cartridge is a registered FDA medical product, and our production site in the UK is FDA registered.
