European Freight Service Leader Rolls-out Fingerprint Drug Testing Solution

Cambridge, UK, June 29, 2023 — Palletways – Europe’s largest provider of express palletised distribution services – is rolling out the innovative Intelligent Fingerprinting drug testing system across its depot network.

Palletways is using the fingerprint drug test, which uses sweat to determine if employees have recently ingested illicit drugs that could affect their fitness to work, as part of its employee induction process.

The Company has purchased nine Intelligent Fingerprinting DSR-Plus fingerprint drug screening cartridge readers to make fingerprint drug testing readily available across its depot network. Sample collection using patented drug screening cartridges takes less than a minute, with an on-screen positive or negative drug screening result for each drug in the test available in just ten minutes via the portable DSR-Plus reader. Having access to the Intelligent Fingerprinting system in-house will also enable the Palletways team to test immediately in the rare occurrence of an accident to quickly eliminate if illicit drugs are present that could have affected the accident. Palletways is also purchasing Intoximeter alcohol tests for a combined workplace testing offer.

Kristie Hawkins, Manager of Palletways Birmingham Depot, said: “The company has a very good safety record, and introducing the highly visual Intelligent Fingerprinting Drug Test as part of the induction process is very important to us. We make sure that our new employees are tested for both drugs and alcohol as part of our induction process to introduce them proactively to our Drug and Alcohol Misuse Policy. Adherence to our policy helps prevent accidents for our employees and the general public while also supporting and protecting the reputation of our company.”

Palletways replaces saliva drug tests with a cleaner fingerprint method.

“The decision for Palletways to switch from using the old saliva swab test method to a simpler fingerprint test has been very well received,” adds Kristie. “The Intelligent Fingerprinting test is more hygienic for both the employee and the tester and is also less intrusive without compromising on performance. The change from swab testing to fingerprint testing has been well received across the Palletways depot network, with our employees and those responsible for testing appreciating its non-invasive nature.”

“Our Intelligent Fingerprinting drug testing solution is increasingly being chosen over more traditional approaches such as saliva and urine as it makes it much more hygienic to carry out in-house for-cause, random or pre-employment testing,” added Philip Hand, Executive Chairman of Intelligent Fingerprinting. “Palletways joins the growing list of transport and logistics specialists that are turning to fingerprint testing to support their workplace drug screening. A key factor driving this is the much shorter window of detection offered by fingerprint-based drug testing, meaning that firms can now provide much greater certainty about fitness for duty for their employees.

Intelligent Bio Solutions Plans to Add Fentanyl Testing as it Further Enhances its Fingerprint-Based Drug Screening Solution

Lab-testing pathway to expand capabilities of proprietary drug test screening to detect potent opioid fentanyl and fentanyl-adulterated street drugs

Opioid crisis estimated to be costing the U.S. $1.5 trillion annually; illicitly manufactured fentanyl by far the most commonly involved opioid in overdose deaths

May 16, 2023 Intelligent Bio Solutions Inc. (Nasdaq: INBS) (“INBS” or the “Company”), a medical technology company delivering intelligent, rapid, non-invasive testing solutions, today announced plans to add the potent synthetic opioid drug, fentanyl, and fentanyl-adulterated street drugs, to the panel of substances detected by its lab-based confirmation testing using fingertip sweat collected by its proprietary Intelligent Fingerprinting Drug Screening System.

According to CDC figures[1], U.S. overdose deaths were at a run rate of over 100,000 for the 12 months ended November 2022, with 81.9% of these deaths involving at least one opioid. Illicitly manufactured fentanyl is by far the most commonly involved opioid[2]. The Company is combatting this healthcare crisis by expanding the capabilities of its lab-based confirmation testing service to detect fentanyl and its related analogues in samples collected by its fingerprint-based drug testing system.

“By seeking to add fentanyl and other fentanyl-adulterated street drugs to our fingerprint-based lab-based confirmation drug testing panel, we are furthering our commitment to equipping workplaces to better combat the opioid issue. Fentanyl, and fentanyl-adulterated street drugs such as Tranq, continue to fuel an opioid crisis that the U.S. Joint Economic Committee estimates[3] is costing the country nearly $1.5 trillion a year and causing tragic impacts to many lives. We believe making drug testing for fentanyl non-invasive, quick, and hygienic is an important step towards addressing this crisis,” said Harry Simeonidis, President and CEO of Intelligent Bio Solutions.

The unique, non-invasive Intelligent Fingerprinting system features a hygienic, non-biohazardous collection cartridge that collects ten fingerprint sweat samples in under a minute. Fingerprint testing provides a quick and dignified approach that is much more convenient than traditional urine or saliva drug testing methods. Picogram levels of chemical sensitivity will allow the presence of fentanyl or fentanyl-adulterated street drugs to be identified by laboratory tests using Liquid Chromatography with tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) analysis.

“Fentanyl is estimated to be around 50 times more potent than heroin, and detection can be challenging given that just 2mg of fentanyl is considered to be a fatal dose by the DEA[4]. Intelligent Fingerprinting’s proprietary testing approach features an advanced sample collection cartridge technology that is suitable for confirming the presence of fentanyl and street drugs through back-to-the-lab LC-MS/MS tests. This is an area that we believe could represent a significant market opportunity for INBS, both in the US and other international markets,” Mr. Simeonidis added.

In addition to its portability and ease-of-use, the non-invasive nature of the Intelligent Fingerprint drug test can also help provide early intelligence on cause of death, with fingerprint test samples providing evidence of recent use of opiates, methamphetamine, cocaine and cannabis.

UK Food Processing Equipment Manufacturer Latest to Adopt Portable Fingerprint Drug Testing Solution

“Having experienced urine drug testing myself, I know it’s not a pleasant experience for anyone. So, when it came to selecting a drug screening approach for Dodman, it was clear that fingerprint testing was a major step forward for workplace drug testing.” – Chris Davies, Health and Safety Manager, Dodman

Intelligent Bio Solutions Inc. (Nasdaq: INBS) (“INBS” or the “Company”), a medical technology company delivering intelligent, rapid, non-invasive testing solutions, today announced that UK manufacturer Dodman Limited (“Dodman”), specialists in the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of processing systems for major food manufacturers, has selected INBS’s Intelligent Fingerprinting Drug Screening System to support random and for cause drug testing activities across its operations over traditional urine tests.

Dodman, a 30-year-old family business, sought to introduce drug testing proactively to protect and enhance its health and safety reputation. After assessing the workplace drug testing product market, Dodman’s Human Resources team selected the Intelligent Fingerprinting Drug Screening System.

The system comprises a small, tamper-evident drug screening cartridge onto which ten fingerprint sweat samples are collected in under a minute, before the portable analysis unit provides an on-screen result in under ten minutes. The system can be used in-house and screens the sweat for recent drug use, including cannabis, cocaine, opiates, and methamphetamine.

Intelligent Fingerprinting – Visual deterrent, positive competitive differentiator

Chris Davies, Health and Safety Manager at Dodman, commented, “For the first time, the portability of the Intelligent Fingerprinting system means that we can test employees both at our HQ operations as well as on-site at our clients’ food manufacturing facilities where our employees are involved in lifting to install, or servicing heavy machinery with sharp and potentially dangerous components. The Intelligent Fingerprinting system can be used on-site with results quickly available within minutes. It’s a great way of encouraging our employees to adhere to health and safety policies, and also is a strong differentiator for Dodman. Our clients’ like to see our approach to enforcing our Drug Policy, highlighting our commitment to health and safety on their sites as well as ours, and we’ve received positive feedback.”

Random drug testing – protecting business reputation

“We have introduced random drug testing with Intelligent Fingerprinting to protect and promote our reputation. We are constantly using fork lifts, spider, and gantry cranes, lifting heavy stainless steel components both in our factory and on-site for our blue-chip clients. We see introducing random employee drug testing – right across the business from our Managing Director down – as a proactive safety measure for all. With the increased use of drugs in society, we wanted to promote random drug testing to keep our employees safe and also to promote our company’s commitment to health and safety as a differentiator for current and future client contracts,” added Mr. Davies.

A better way than urine tests

“With my background in the military, I have experienced drug testing first-hand. Urine tests are unpleasant for all involved – there is nothing nice about them for the tester or the indignity for the candidate. As soon as I saw how quick, unintrusive and easy to use the Intelligent Fingerprinting drug testing system is, I knew it was the in-house system for Dodman. It is so quick and easy, I was surprised how it worked in the initial demo, but once the Intelligent Fingerprinting team explained the science to me, it all made absolute sense. We have every confidence in the system,” concluded Mr. Davies.

“We’re excited that Dodman has selected our Intelligent Fingerprinting solution to support their drug testing activities,” said Harry Simeonidis, President and CEO of Intelligent Bio Solutions. “While most companies recognize the importance of drug testing to help ensure employees’ safety, many people are simply uncomfortable with traditional urine drug testing methods. We are happy to offer an organization like Dodman an alternative method that is portable, quick, efficient and highly accurate.”

Intelligent Bio Solutions Inc. Announces Leading Food Industry Logistics Provider to Implement Fingerprint Drug Testing, Replacing Urine Testing

  • Boughey Distribution switches to Intelligent Fingerprinting for its faster end-to-end testing, non-invasive nature, and ability to conduct tests in-house

NEW YORK, February 7, 2023 Intelligent Bio Solutions Inc. (Nasdaq: INBS) (the “Company”), today announced that Boughey Distribution (“Boughey”), one of the United Kingdom’s leading logistics providers to the food industry, has selected the on-the-spot fingerprint test from the Company’s subsidiary, Intelligent Fingerprinting,to support its random drug screening program, replacing its previous urine-based test.

Key benefits of Intelligent Fingerprinting for Boughey include the ability to administer random testing in-house, removing the need to engage external testing providers. The Company’s fingerprint technology is also non-invasive, quick, and more hygienic than urine testing, with no need to source meeting rooms and toilet facilities to administer the testing.

Intelligent Fingerprinting works by analyzing sweat to screen for recent drug use, including cannabis, cocaine, opiates, and methamphetamine. The portable system enables Boughey’s Human Resources (HR) team to conduct simple, non-intrusive testing anytime and virtually anywhere, helping to serve as a deterrent and encouraging employees to adhere to Health & Safety policies. With fingerprint sample collection in seconds and on-screen results in 10 minutes, fingerprint testing’s rapid performance will also allow Boughey to conduct its random testing promptly and efficiently.

Boughey’s Head of Human Resources, Mark Batch, said: “We took the decision to start random alcohol & drug testing as a step-change to help improve our health and safety culture. We felt it was also important to re-affirm the importance of being in a fit state for work, particularly given the huge amount of manual handling equipment and vehicles we operate on/off-site. Over time, it became clear that we also needed to find a way to speed up the random drug testing process – ideally in a way that was also less intrusive than our existing urine testing method.”

“Having reviewed potential alternatives and testing technologies on the market, we were impressed by the Intelligent Fingerprinting team and the way the fingerprint-based test could resolve our concerns around urine testing,” continued Mr. Batch. “We particularly liked how the end-to-end process of fingerprint testing could reduce the time taken to test our employees. Also, Intelligent Fingerprinting’s shorter window of detection means that our focus is on fitness for work rather than what employees were doing in their personal time. Additionally, the ability to conduct all our testing in-house gives us much more control over the process.”

Mr. Batch noted that as part of Boughey’s alcohol & drugs policy, all employees are made aware that they could be tested at any time as part of the random testing program and that the Company’s HR team generally conducts random testing every 8-12 weeks.

“We’re delighted that Boughey Distribution has joined a growing list of transport and logistics specialists who have turned to fingerprint testing to support their workplace drug screening,” added Harry Simeonidis, President and CEO of Intelligent Bio Solutions. “The ease-of-use and portability of the Intelligent Fingerprinting drug screening system means it is particularly flexible, and a useful option for employers such as Boughey that are looking to implement truly random and spontaneous workplace testing.”

Fingerprint-based drug testing – how it works: Intelligent Fingerprinting’s drug testing system features a small, tamper-evident drug screening cartridge onto which ten fingerprint sweat samples are collected in a process that takes less than a minute. The Intelligent Fingerprinting portable analysis unit then reads the cartridge and provides a positive or negative result on-screen for all drugs in the test in ten minutes.

Intelligent Bio Solutions Inc. Announces Global Garden Equipment Manufacturer to Introduce Intelligent Fingerprinting Drug Tests

  • Gardening Supplier, Hozelock, to Roll Out Hygienic and Non-Invasive Intelligent Fingerprinting for Drug Tests to Promote Employee Safety

NEW YORK, January 31, 2023 Intelligent Bio Solutions Inc. (Nasdaq: INBS) (the “Company”), today announced that global garden equipment manufacturer Hozelock will implement drug tests utilizing fingerprint sweat-based technology from the Company’s subsidiary, Intelligent Fingerprinting, to promote employee safety. Hozelock will use the fingerprint sweat-based drug test to determine any recent employee use of cocaine, cannabis, methamphetamine or opioids.

The Intelligent Fingerprinting platform, which analyzes sweat to screen for recent drug use, is quick, hygienic and non-invasive, and enables Hozelock’s Human Resources (HR) staff members to easily conduct drug tests whenever necessary. As Hozelock staff numbers vary according to seasonal demand, ranging from 320 to approximately 650, our fingerprint test technology makes testing especially convenient when staffing resources are more limited.

As the Intelligent Fingerprinting system is portable and visual, the operation of on-site drug tests also provides a great way of promoting Hozelock’s drug use policy to new employees and potential employees. Hozelock had consulted with and gained full support for the new testing system from Unite, its trade union, before implementing the change.

Andrew Parker, Human Resources Manager of Hozelock said, “Intelligent Fingerprinting is a really good way of allowing us to conduct random drug tests in-house – a process that’s an important contributor to Hozelock’s excellent safety record. We consulted initially with Unite, who gave their full backing to our use of a fingerprint-based drug screening. Compared with urine and saliva methods, the fingerprint method of drug testing treats the employee with much more dignity, while the system’s shorter window of detection means we’re not intruding into our employees’ personal lives.”

“No one in HR ever wants to catch anyone with a drug test. But some of our operations are potentially dangerous, and, as a responsible employer, it’s essential that we do the right things to protect our employees and their colleagues. That said, as a team, we are only concerned with people being safe to work for their shift – not what they might have done over the weekend. With its sub-24 hour window of detection, Intelligent Fingerprinting’s system allows us to look at just that, ensuring the safety of our employees while respecting their privacy during their personal time. From our experience, traditional tests typically look for drug use beyond this, and that’s not what drug testing for health and safety purposes is all about,” continued Mr. Parker.

Harry Simeonidis, President and CEO of Intelligent Bio Solutions added: “employees under the influence of drugs in safety-critical manufacturing can be a danger both to themselves and their colleagues. The adoption of simple, reliable, and portable fingerprint drug testing illustrates an organization’s commitment to health and safety and its clear support for union guidelines, namely treating employees with dignity. That’s why Intelligent Fingerprinting is the best method to drug test in comparison with traditional urine and saliva-based methods.”

UK-wide glass manufacturer to roll out fingerprint drug system across UK operations

  • Can now test 1,000 employees across six sites as required, with each test always taking only ten minutes
  • Fingerprint drug test key to Health & Safety modernisation program

Intelligent Bio Solutions Inc. (Nasdaq: INBS) (the “Company”), a life sciences company developing non-invasive, real-time diagnostic testing for patients and their primary health practitioners at point of care, today announced that UK insulated glass manufacturer Glass Systems is adopting the latest fingerprint-based drug testing system to promote health and safety across the business. Random drug testing based on the Intelligent Fingerprinting solution is being rolled-out across its UK operations – currently six factories and 1,000 employees. The collection of simple fingerprint sweat samples from fingers is rapid, with the new in-house system enabling Glass Systems to obtain results for every test – displayed on a portable reader – in only ten minutes.

Adopting fingerprint drug testing allows the Glass Systems Health & Safety team to conduct random or for cause drug testing of employees on demand. Testing will be conducted regularly in a bid to protect individuals and their colleagues from the risk of potential accidents at work caused by employees impaired by drug use. Glass Systems has a proactive health and safety initiative in place to safeguard workers operating manufacturing machinery and vehicles such as forklifts. The fingerprint drug test will all be managed in-house by the existing Glass Systems team, enabling testing to take place as and when required, or rapidly should they need to respond to incidents of employees potentially not being fit to work.

Morgan Evans, Health Safety and Environmental Manager of Glass Systems explained: “as part of our major business modernization program we’re investing in the latest machinery and processes to ensure we remain competitive and future-proof for the next decade. We have overhauled our Health & Safety policies and processes and wanted to conduct random and for cause drug testing to ensure that our employees are fit to work – both for their own and their colleagues’ safety. We discovered fingerprint drug testing – a modern and highly advanced drug test we can use in-house with results in just ten minutes.

“For the first time we are now able to conduct drug tests whenever and wherever we choose, meaning that we can quickly remove anyone who’s not fit to work safely from possible danger. And, while this is rare, we see the adoption of fingerprint drug testing as a highly visible deterrent – it’s simple, easy-to-use, looks great, and ideally in the future I would like to have a reader device at each of our multiple locations in South Wales, Peterborough, Barnsley, and Cumbernauld in Scotland,” continued Morgan.

Terry Elvin, Head of Sales for Intelligent Fingerprinting, added: “our portable system enables firms to screen for very recent use of drugs. That means that manufacturers like Glass Systems are only assessing if an employee is fit to work at a specific point in time, not intruding into a person’s lifestyle or what they do in their private time. This makes fingerprint-based drug testing a great choice for responsible businesses with employee liability and protection obligations. We provide a highly visual, cost-effective, and modern way for businesses to promote health and safety at work, and it’s a key reason why we’re now seeing the increased adoption of fingerprint drug testing in key sectors such as manufacturing.”
