James Jones & Sons Ltd will use 11 readers deployed across the company’s 25 UK locations. The company will implement a random testing program for its 1,300 employees to proactively support its new substance misuse policy launched in November 2023.

Rosetta Forbes, Group Head of HR for James Jones & Sons Ltd, said, “James Jones has some 1,300 employees, many of whom operate high-risk machinery such as sawmill cutting equipment, pallet & packaging manufacturing units, and wood harvesting machinery. As an innovative company, we want to push our safety record forward, and Intelligent Fingerprinting will be central to our new substance misuse policy.

“We are rolling out Intelligent Fingerprinting’s Drug Screening System to provide in-house testing that will be available across all our sites, including our remote/rural operations, as required,” added Rosetta Forbes. “The system is a great match for our needs. It is easy for our HR and Health and Safety colleagues who are not medically trained to use. The system is non-invasive, fast, and cost-effective across our urban as well as remote locations, with easy sample collection that takes only seconds. On-site results for multiple drug groups in just ten minutes makes Intelligent Fingerprinting a very efficient and innovative solution for James Jones & Sons Ltd to adopt.”

James Jones & Sons Ltd’s in-house HR team will work collaboratively with their Health and Safety colleagues, as well as some local managers, who are all trained to use the sweat-based drug screening system to manage testing as required. The company has carefully planned the roll-out, incorporating a company-wide amnesty period that welcomes employees to approach the company for wellbeing support before the new policy came into force in December.

Construction logistics, security, and support specialist DGP Plc selects Intelligent Fingerprinting Drug Screening System to simplify and speed up workplace drug testing for its 450 employees and contractors.

“By using fingerprint drug testing, I no longer have to take people off a project for half a day for  screening – we can conduct the tests there and then” – Ruth Trant, SHEQ & Assurance Director, DGP Plc

DGP is one of the UK’s leading construction logistics, security and support companies. Its services enable the delivery of many of the country’s largest construction projects. The company implements robust processes and risk-based SHEQ management to support the way it delivers its works, and will now use the Intelligent Fingerprinting Drug Screening System to enable faster, more convenient and more flexible workplace drug testing.

“Having already seen fingerprint sweat-based drug screening in action at another company, I knew that the Intelligent Fingerprinting would work well for DGP,” explained Ruth Trant, DGP Plc’s SHEQ & Assurance Director. “We had previously used an external drug testing service to carry out random urine-based screening, but with around 450 employees and contractors working on customer project sites at any one time, this proved highly disruptive to productivity. With fingerprint sweat-based testing we can conduct the ten-minute tests there and then, with people not having to wait. The portability of the Intelligent Fingerprinting system also means we can conduct workplace testing wherever it is needed.

“We have a duty to put people to work safely, and conducting testing sends a clear signal that coming to work under the influence of drugs or alcohol is unsafe and not acceptable at DGP Plc. We are also keen for everyone across the business to see that we take our Drug and Alcohol Policy very seriously. The fact that everyone in DGP is subject to random testing is important, while its portability means that people get to see our Intelligent Fingerprinting system in action regularly,” added Ruth.

“An increasing number of construction and logistics firms are turning to our fingerprint sweat-based system for various testing needs, from recruitment and onboarding requirements to random workplace screening or for cause testing,” added Harry Simeonidis, President and Chief Executive Officer at Intelligent Bio Solutions. “Our system’s flexibility and ease of use makes it much simpler for organisations like DGP to manage workplace drug testing internally, resulting in overall cost savings and improved productivity due to minimal disruption.”

If you would like to see first hand how Intelligent Fingertprinting’s Drug Screening System can provide your company with a faster, more flexible and more convenient workplace drug testing process then book a free no obligation demonstration with one of our experienced team.

Robinson Brothers, one of the UK’s largest independent chemical manufacturers, is now using Intelligent Fingerprinting’s revolutionary portable Drug Screening System to support its drug and alcohol testing policy.

Robinson Brothers runs a 24/7 chemical manufacturing operation at its West Bromwich facility. The company’s HR team found that its previously outsourced drug testing provision was not responsive enough to support its requirements. Adopting the Intelligent Fingerprinting Drug Screening System will allow Robinson Brothers to bring drug testing in-house, with its portability, flexibility and ease-of-use enabling random testing across the business and for cause tests wherever and whenever needed.

“We previously used an external provider to carry out urine-based drug testing on a random basis. This was not only unhygienic and intrusive for everyone involved, but also invariably led to productivity delays as people sat around waiting to be tested,” explained Steve Doyle, Human Resources Manager at Robinson Brothers. “However, when we found out about fingerprint-based drug screening, we immediately saw how we could conduct our own testing in-house and in a much less invasive way. Additionally, because the system is so portable and easy to use, it works as an on-site visual deterrent and provides a great way of supporting our Drug and Alcohol Policy across the business.”

“From our initial cost analysis, we see fingerprint-based drug screening as highly cost-effective,” added Steve. “Including the initial capital costs of the DSR-Plus drug screening cartridge reader, we estimate that Intelligent Fingerprinting will allow us to conduct the same volume of tests at around half the cost. This, of course, becomes even more competitive as capital costs are written down.”

“As a 24/7 manufacturing operation, Robinson Brothers clearly appreciated the flexibility that sweat-based drug testing provides, giving the HR team the ability to screen employees whenever they need to,” added Harry Simeonidis, President and Chief Executive Officer at Intelligent Bio Solutions. “What’s clear is that our portable, non-invasive system takes the complexity out of workplace drug testing and is increasingly replacing traditional workplace testing methods using urine and saliva.”

  • Easy-to-use, hygienic fingerprint sweat test improves the testing experience for P&O Ferries employees from previous urine method

Leading pan-European ferry and logistics company, P&O Ferries, is now using the revolutionary portable Intelligent Fingerprinting Drug Screening System to support its drug and alcohol testing policy.

P&O previously used an external drug testing service provider to conduct random urine testing of seafaring staff on board its ferries. The testing process typically required multiple cabins with toilet facilities, HR support, external testers and a series of two-hour testing sessions across multiple voyages to conduct testing. This approach proved expensive and inflexible. Switching to an in-house program using the Intelligent Fingerprinting Drug Screening System is expected to reduce P&O Ferries’ overall drug testing costs by 90%.

“When we first saw fingerprint sweat-based drug screening in action, we knew it would be a great fit for P&O Ferries and our need for a flexible system that we could use on board our ferries,” explained Grant Laversuch, Head of Safety & Designated Person Ashore at P&O Ferries. “This has proved to be the case, with the portable and non-invasive Intelligent Fingerprinting system giving us the ability to test on our ferries as needed. Having rolled out the innovative fingerprint solution to our ferries, we’re now looking at training additional HR team members so that we can extend the program to our employees onshore.

P&O Ferries will deploy the Intelligent Fingerprinting Drug Screening System at its three UK ferry port sites at Larne in Northern Ireland, as well as Hull and Dover in England. The Company’s portable DSR-Plus readers and screening cartridges will be used to randomly test seafaring staff on board ferries in line with the company’s drug and alcohol policy.

“The ease-of-use and portability of our Intelligent Fingerprinting Drug Screening System makes it a powerful solution for random workplace testing across different locations. P&O Ferries’ deployment of fingerprint testing on its ferries demonstrates the system’s flexibility. It’s great that we’re not only helping the company maintain a safe and efficient work environment, but also equipping it with a more cost-effective method of testing,” added Harry Simeonidis, President and Chief Executive Officer at Intelligent Bio Solutions.

Auctus Management successfully completes 25,000 tests using Intelligent Fingerprinting

  • Part of comprehensive candidate validation process by Auctus Management, with rapid fingerprint drugs test, alcohol breathalyzer, CSCS check, and biometric access card production all completed in just 11 minutes
  • Easy-to-use fingerprint sweat test selected to promote construction worker health and safety adherence

Auctus Management Group, has successfully completed 25,000 Intelligent Fingerprinting drug tests on one of the largest construction sites in Europe.

The innovative Intelligent Fingerprinting Drug Screening System uses sweat to determine recent ingestion of cocaine, opiates, methamphetamine or cannabis. Auctus Management Group has successfully deployed the system as part of a comprehensive construction worker induction process. Candidates are required to take the Intelligent Fingerprinting drug test, which delivers results onsite within minutes. During this time, the candidate also undergoes an alcohol test, has their Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card checked, and their biometric card is produced.

Richard Toy, CEO of Auctus Management Group, explained, “We won the contract to screen and provide employee inductions for this construction project  –one of the largest construction sites in Europe, and a key differentiator for us was our proposal to use the Intelligent Fingerprinting Drug Screening System. This helped our tender stand out against traditional urine and saliva drug testing alternatives. When we initially looked at the logistics involved, it simply was not feasible to use traditional urine-based drug tests, especially because of the need for dedicated drug test restroom facilities for that many people. The Intelligent Fingerprinting test has many benefits, including rapid on-site results, hygiene, non-intrusiveness and convenience for testing at scale. The test continues to work very well, and we are proud to now have completed this significant milestone of 25,000 fingerprint drug tests for this particular project.”

“Efficiency is the key, and we have a highly efficient screening process featuring the Intelligent Fingerprinting system at its core. We run six consultation cubicles. On entry, the candidate provides a fingerprint sweat sample, taking less than a minute. While we wait a few short minutes for the Intelligent Fingerprinting results, we breathalyze for alcohol consumption, check CSCS credentials, and, if required, can also take the biometric details for their security cards. This is now a proven delivery process, enabling us to take each candidate through the process in only 11 minutes. We simply could not deliver this project at scale using urine or saliva drug tests,” he concluded.

Auctus Management Group leads the transformation of the UK’s infrastructure with rail, civils, and utilities expertise via its group members, RSS Infrastructure and INFRA Skills. They provide services ranging from Arboriculture to Welding, excel in the delivery of client projects, offer high-quality training for the rail and construction sectors, and manage high-profile induction programmes.

International certification adds to Quality Management Systems credentials for the medical device industry and supports expansion plans into North America and Asia Pacific regions

Intelligent Bio Solutions Inc. (Nasdaq: INBS) (“INBS” or the “Company”), a medical technology company delivering intelligent, rapid, non-invasive testing solutions, today announced that its Intelligent Fingerprinting Drug Screening business has obtained recertification for the latest ISO 13485: 2016 harmonized quality management system standard for the medical device industry. The recertification is effective October 14, 2023, and will be valid for three years.

ISO 13485:2016 is the international standard for medical devices quality management system certification and is a requirement for medical device manufacturers operating across key regions, including the USA, Canada, Europe, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia. Last year the US Food and Drug Administration published a proposed rule to harmonize its medical device quality management system, 21 CFR Part 820, to the ISO 13485 QMS standard.

“Receiving ISO 13485: 2016 certification confirms that our research and development, manufacturing facilities and operations for our drug screening products conform with the highest quality management system requirements for our target markets,” said Harry Simeonidis, President and Chief Executive Officer of Intelligent Bio Solutions. “We are currently focused on driving sales growth for our Intelligent Fingerprinting Drug Screening System across Europe and Australia. In the coming months, we plan to extend our sales efforts into other countries throughout the Asia Pacific region. Given this planned expansion, it is essential we meet the most stringent quality criteria recognized globally.”

The ISO 13485:2016 harmonized standard specifies the requirements for a quality management system where an organization must demonstrate its ability to provide medical devices and related services that consistently meet customer and applicable regulatory requirements. Based on the ISO 9001 process model, ISO 13485 includes particular elements needed for organizations involved in the lifecycle of medical devices. The Intelligent Fingerprinting business has also been recertified for the ISO 9001:2015 quality standard.

The Intelligent Fingerprinting Drug Screening System is designed to detect the presence of specific drugs and/or their metabolites from fingerprint sweat. The system features a small, tamper-evident drug screening cartridge onto which ten fingerprint sweat samples are collected in less than a minute. The tamper-proof cartridges screen for multiple drug groups simultaneously, including combinations of opioids, cocaine, methamphetamines, benzodiazepines, cannabis, methadone, and buprenorphine, in an approach that offers a dignified, non-invasive, and rapid drug screening solution. The application of the technology in maintaining workplace safety has garnered positive feedback from the Company’s growing customer base of over 350 clients worldwide, successfully deterring substance abuse at work and ensuring employee well-being and compliance with health and safety policies.

New assays for ketamine and tramadol testing pass initial Intelligent Fingerprinting design phase and begin next stage of transfer to manufacture

Intelligent Bio Solutions Inc. (Nasdaq: INBS) (“INBS” or the “Company”), a medical technology company delivering intelligent, rapid, non-invasive testing solutions, today announced the successful completion of a key development milestone in its plans to add ketamine and tramadol to its Intelligent Fingerprinting Drug Screening System. New assays for testing both drugs have passed the Company’s initial design phase and are ready for scale-up and transfer to manufacture in preparation for potential clinical trials. After completing these activities and successful clinical trials, the assays can be added to the panel of substances detected by the Company’s proprietary drug screening system.

Ketamine is widely recognized worldwide as having the potential for drug abuse due to its hallucinogenic properties, while the synthetic opioid pain reliever tramadol is being added to controlled substances lists around the world. According to analysis conducted by the NYU Grossman School of Medicine and National Drug Early Warning System (NDEWS) at the University of Florida, the total weight of ketamine seized in the U.S. increased by more than 1,100% between 2017 and 20221, while UK Home Office statistics reports that the quantity of ketamine seized by UK police and border forces increased by 884% between March 2021 and March 20222. According to the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre at the University of New South Wales, Australia is also seeing a rise in the use of illegal ketamine usage, with over half of regular drug users taking ketamine in 2021, an increase of 9% on the previous year3.

“While both ketamine and tramadol are widely used for legitimate medical and veterinary purposes, its increased use as a recreational drug has rapidly become a growing concern when it comes to workplace drug testing,” said Harry Simeonidis, President and CEO of Intelligent Bio Solutions. “We’re committed to continuously improving of the design of our innovative fingerprint drug testing system to test for major drugs with the potential for abuse, and we’re pleased to begin the important transfer to manufacture in preparation for potential clinical trials for our ketamine and tramadol assay.”
