Sample collection takes less than a minute, and results are available within ten minutes. The system’s ease of use and portability make it a convenient solution for reliable and portable drug screening.

The system’s ease of use and portability make it a convenient and reliable solution for various workplace drug screening scenarios. Conduct pre-employment screening, random testing and post-incident investigations with ease. Ideal for safety-critical environments like construction, manufacturing, transport and logistics.

How It Works

The Intelligent Fingerprinting Drug Testing Solution detects recent drug misuse by analyzing specific drugs or their metabolites in fingerprint sweat, reflecting substances ingested and processed by the body.

The detection window for drugs in sweat can vary depending on factors such as the drug’s half-life, the individual’s metabolism, and the specific testing method. The Intelligent Fingerprinting Drug Testing Solution tests for “fitness for duty” on the day and has a detection window of 16-24 hours.

Follow our simple three-step process: collect, analyse and read results in minutes.

Construction Management: Mace introduces fingerprint drug testing

Originally published in Construction Management.

Mace has introduced fingerprint drug tests that can detect drug use among construction workers within around 10 minutes.

The Intelligent Fingerprinting system collects and analyses tiny traces of fingerprint sweat and supports Mace’s random drug testing of all employees from directors to labourers.

It is being used to enforce Mace’s contractual drug usage policy, required by major contractors on construction projects, as well as forming part of the company’s ‘fitness for work’ and employee wellbeing initiatives.

Mace said it had selected the fingerprint method ahead of urine and saliva tests as Intelligent Fingerprinting’s portable solution enables on-site drug tests at its construction sites.

The company added that it was committed to offering support to any employees who may have a drug usage problem, providing them with a range of support options through their HR function.

Earlier this year, Masterson Holdings, the parent company of concrete frame specialist GetJar, Atlantic Contracts and Glencoe Plant Services announced that it would also use the Intelligent Fingerprinting system.

Meanwhile, Staffordshire-based Chasetown Civil Engineering has also adopted the tests.

Karl Griffin, HSE director at Chasetown said: “Due to the nature of our projects, our employees often drive heavy machinery such as earth mover, excavators and dumpers. That’s why we operate a no-tolerance drug and alcohol policy, to ensure our employees are always fit to handle or be around such potentially dangerous machinery. For years we have used an in-house saliva test for limited random testing or after a rare incident or report of a concern, for example.

“However, we were really attracted to the Intelligent Fingerprinting method. Not only can I carry out the drug test myself and get rapid results as required, but I’m also able to collect samples while maintaining social distancing from the employee – a major benefit when we’re trying to keep our workforce moving during the pandemic. Both parties can also wear masks throughout the test if needed.”

Dr Paul Yates of Intelligent Fingerprinting said: “The Intelligent Fingerprinting method tests for evidence of very recent drug use – enabling organisations like Chasetown Civil Engineering to determine more accurately whether an employee is fit to work while on site.

“We’re already working with several construction firms that appreciate the benefit of our easy-to-use screening test to reinforce their health and safety policies. Intelligent Fingerprinting testing can be carried out without expensive external testing support and because no specialist testing areas or biohazardous disposal services are required, the process is simple to use in-house as often as required.”

Our fingerprint drug testing video provides a quick introduction to the Intelligent Fingerprinting Drug Screening System and explains how it could simplify and improve drug testing programmes across many sectors.

World’s First Portable Fingerprint Drug Testing System

Intelligent Fingerprinting’s revolutionary new fingerprint drug test is the first of its kind. Portable and non-invasive the System works by collecting and analysing fingerprint sweat to detect minute traces of drugs or drug metabolites to determine whether or not a person has consumed drugs.

Sample collection takes less than a minute using the Intelligent Fingerprinting Drug Screening Cartridge, and results are available within ten minutes using the Intelligent Fingerprinting Drug Screening Reader. The System’s ease of use and portability make it a convenient solution for reliable and portable drug screening.

We offer a comprehensive solution that includes certified training of nominated personnel, access to real, knowledgeable customer support agents, a two-part system for on-site testing, and a lab confirmatory test kit and procedure for when a non-negative screening result requires confirmation.

When the Intelligent Fingerprinting Drug Screening System displays a non-negative screening result, the Laboratory Analysis Kit is used to confirm the result via independent laboratory analysis.

The Laboratory Analysis Kit includes a tamper-evident collection cartridge and a security-sealed bag with barcodes for anonymity to be sent to the laboratory for unequivocal results. The independent testing laboratory will use validated Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS) technology to confirm the screening result.

Our fingerprint-based drug testing solution is fast, easy to use, and designed for workplace settings where efficiency, hygiene, and non-invasiveness are essential.

This short video demonstrates the complete testing process using the Intelligent Fingerprinting Drug Screening System. The system includes two key components: a single-use collection cartridge and the portable Intelligent Fingerprinting Reader 1000.

Step-by-step:

  1. Collection
The individual being tested presses each fingertip onto the collection cartridge. This takes just a few seconds and requires no special preparation.

  2. Insertion into the reader
Once the cartridge has collected the fingerprint sweat, it is inserted into the reader.

  3. Analysis
The reader begins its automated process to detect the presence of drug metabolites in the fingerprint sample. Results are displayed clearly on screen in approximately 10 minutes.

  4. Results
The outcome is easy to read and interpret. The system can detect multiple drug groups from a single sample, making it ideal for use in safety-critical industries and workplaces where rapid, non-invasive testing is required.

Why fingerprint testing?

Our system eliminates the need for invasive sample collection such as urine or saliva. It’s quick, clean, and can be carried out almost anywhere with minimal training. There’s no requirement for gender-specific testing staff or specialist disposal of biohazardous waste.

Whether you’re screening employees as part of a routine programme or testing after an incident, the Intelligent Fingerprinting system offers a simple, efficient approach to drug testing.

Video: Introducing Fingerprint Drug Testing From Intelligent Fingerprinting

Intelligent Fingerprinting

This video provides a brief introduction to Fingerprint Drug Screening.

Increasingly, we use our fingerprints to confirm our identity and give us access to things that are important to us. A British company, Intelligent Fingerprinting, has realized that our fingerprints can even reveal the substances we’ve consumed.

When someone ingests something, for example, drinking a cup of coffee or taking illegal drugs, their body digests or metabolizes what they’ve ingested to produce secondary chemicals called metabolites. Now, we can detect the metabolites from within the sweat of a fingerprint specific to the drug they have recently taken.

Intelligent fingerprinting has used this knowledge to develop the world’s first fingerprint-based portable drug testing system. It tests for multiple drugs simultaneously and gives the results in minutes.

The fingerprint is collected on this small Cartridge, which is then inserted into the Reader. This device analyzes the tiny traces of sweat and the fingerprint to produce a negative or positive result for each drug in the test. As the device is portable, drug screening can be carried out anywhere for various purposes.

So, spot checks within the military at the roadside and to support drug rehabilitation. It can also be used for fitness for-duty testing within the workplace, and for the coroner’s service, it can provide early intelligence on the cause of death. Many millions of these tests are carried out every year so the potential for use for the intelligent fingerprinting growth screening system is enormous.
