Job Summary

The job holder will be a member of the multi-disciplinary Production Team and will be involved in routine manufacture of the company’s lateral flow drugs of abuse tests.  Additionally, the role provides key technical input in product transfer and production troubleshooting, equipment maintenance and attending breakdowns as required.


This position, as a member of the Production Team, is specifically responsible for assisting with the manufacture of Intelligent Fingerprinting products to the relevant quality standards.  This will include the following:

  • Working to deadlines, with good time management skills
  • Supporting the implementation of continuous improvement programmes
  • Understanding quality standards and assisting in applying the standards in both documentation and processes
  • Involvement in deviations, concessions, investigations and implementation of CAPAs
  • Assisting in the manufacture of components and products, including formulation, labelling and product assembly, all according to the requirements of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and the Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Assisting in the maintenance of appropriate stock levels and contributing to the management of the proper flow of raw materials, work in progress and finished goods
  • Completing Manufacturing batch records and related documentation
  • Ensuring all work is performed to agreed timescales and that senior staff are kept up to date with progress as appropriate without being prompted
  • Ensuring product and process quality meets specifications required
  • Assisting with Lab floor layout and cell designs
  • Designing fixtures and tooling for assembly tasks
  • Overseeing installation of machinery and equipment
  • Planning and organising preventative maintenance schedule
  • Responding to breakdowns
  • Reporting downtime and possible trends
  • Supporting and leading continuous improvement, problem-solving and process improvement activities
  • Carrying out FMEAs, (Failure Mode Effects Analysis), processing documentation and implementing improvements
  • Poka Yoke (error proofing) where possible to prevent errors
  • Assisting the Operations Manager to update the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Working to Intelligent Fingerprinting standards and core values at all times

Qualifications and experience required

  • Relevant manufacturing/engineering degree preferred, A-Levels, ONC, City & Guilds level 3, BTec National Diploma Level 3, IVQ Technician Diploma, or equivalent NVQ level 3 qualification
  • Experience of FMEA (Failure Mode Effects Analysis), Kaizen/A3 (continuous improvement and problem-solving) process improvement and Poka Yoke (error proofing) techniques
  • Significant work experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, preferably medical device
  • Permission to work in the UK
