Scottish workplace drug testing specialist to offer innovative fingerprint drug test

  • Site LT to provide non-invasive Intelligent Fingerprinting drug test for fitness for duty testing – primarily to Scottish construction, logistics, oil and gas and call centre sectors
  • Test enables social distancing during testing, is easy to use and provides results in ten minutes on site

Site LT, the specialist provider of workplace drug and alcohol testing services, has become the first Scottish distributor of Intelligent Fingerprinting’s innovative fingerprint drug test. The easy to use test – that simply requires a sample of fingerprint sweat to determine if drugs have been taken – is particularly applicable for workplace testing as it is quick, dignified and non-invasive. The fingerprint solution enables workplace health and safety drug testing to be conducted while supporting full social distancing and is increasingly being used as an alternative to traditional urine and saliva-based methods.

Site LT specialises in providing workplace testing services to a range of core sectors – including construction, logistics, oil and gas sectors and call centres – across Scotland and North-East England. The company believes that the rapid and non-invasive fingerprint-based approach can provide a successful alternative to urine and saliva testing in Scotland – helping businesses and their employees to remain fit-for-duty in high-risk workplaces.

“In higher risk environments – such as construction where heavy machinery is often being used around employees – there is a responsibility for organisations to have an active drug and alcohol policy in place. Indeed, some of our clients know they have an employee drug misuse problem and do not know how to address it,” commented Lynne Donaldson, Site LT’s Managing Director. “We support clients to address this with a target of zero illicit drug use. The purpose here is not to infringe on personal freedoms, but to ensure that employees who are either operating this type of machinery or are required to work around it, are fit-for-duty and not under the influence of drugs or alcohol while at work.”

“Here at Site LT we’ve been attracted to the next generation fingerprint-based approach to drug testing from Intelligent Fingerprinting and believe it’s an ideal tool for the Scottish workplace drug testing market due to its ease-of-use and rapid on-site results. Our passion for testing comes from seeing reduced incidents and better productivity on construction sites for those companies with active drug and alcohol testing programmes. In fact, we have had examples of employees reporting back that they feel better, have more money and overall improved lifestyle,” Lynne Donaldson added. “The simplicity of the fingerprint test is obviously a major benefit, while the fact that full social distancing can be maintained is clearly vital at the moment. However, one of the main benefits we see for our clients is the more appropriate window of detection that is offered by the fingerprint method.

“Intelligent Fingerprinting’s system is a true fitness-for-duty type test – making sure employees aren’t under the influence at that point of time at the workplace. Other methods – urine or oral fluid for example – aren’t as straightforward for workplace testing as their window of detection can be longer. A positive test result on a Monday morning could be down to drug use on the previous Friday evening, for example, and as a workplace tester we’re only really interested in how that individual is able to perform while at work – not in their social time,” concluded Lynne.

Dr Paul Yates of Intelligent Fingerprinting said: “It is great that Site LT will now be able to offer fingerprint-based tests to Scottish organisations, and we welcome them to our ever-growing distribution network. As adoption of the Intelligent Fingerprinting drug screening system continues to grow, we are adding more selected partners to our network, enabling even more workplaces to utilise the power and simplicity of fingerprint drug testing internationally.”

Fingerprint-based drug testing – how it works
Intelligent Fingerprinting’s drug testing solution features a small, tamper-evident drug screening cartridge onto which ten fingerprint sweat samples are collected, in a process which takes less than a minute. The Intelligent Fingerprinting portable analysis unit then reads the cartridge and provides a positive or negative result on-screen for all drugs in the test in ten minutes. A fingerprint-based laboratory confirmation service is also available.
