The Engineer: Trial aims to halt drug diversion and support OST

The Engineer reports that innovative, fingerprint drug screening technology from British company, Intelligent Fingerprinting, is to be at the forefront of a European project to help people break their addiction to opiates such as heroin and help prevent drug diversion.

The €1m project, funded by Eurostars, is a joint endeavour between Intelligent Fingerprinting, Addoz (a Finnish healthcare technology company) and the University of Eastern Finland.

The project is aimed at providing improvements in patient management tools to assist in the implementation of more cost-effective and convenient opioid substitution treatment (OST) programmes.
